Mexican Caribbean: 12 destinations, one extraordinary essence

The Mexican Caribbean, promoted by the Quintana Roo Tourism Promotion Council (CPTQ), is a comprehensive destination that brings together 12 destinations with their own unique identities, where ancient history, lush nature, world-class gastronomy, top-tier infrastructure, and authentic experiences converge for every type of traveler.

Stretching across more than 160 kilometers of coastline on the Yucatán Peninsula, the destination offers unparalleled diversity: from the cosmopolitan energy and all-inclusive resorts of Cancún and the vibrant atmosphere of Playa del Carmen, to the eco-chic spirituality of Tulum and the serenity of Bacalar, home to its iconic Lagoon of Seven Colors. Added to this are the bohemian charm of Holbox, the rich marine life of Cozumel, and the community-based, sustainable tourism of Maya Ka’an, along with Isla Mujeres, Costa Mujeres, Puerto Morelos, Mahahual, and Chetumal, completing an offering where relaxation, adventure, culture, and authenticity coexist.

The Mexican Caribbean stands out for its strategic connectivity, as it is the only destination in Mexico with four international airports, in addition to the Maya Train, which connects five states and enhances access to cultural and culinary experiences. Its leadership is reinforced by robust infrastructure, more than 138,000 hotel rooms, world-class convention centers, and a highly competitive offering for the MICE segment.

The Mayan cultural heritage, present in archaeological sites, living communities, and thousands of sacred cenotes, coexists with an internationally recognized culinary scene and a year-round agenda of sporting, musical, and cultural events. With innovation, sustainability, and multiple global recognitions, the Mexican Caribbean is firmly established as a world-class tourism destination, capable of offering everything in one single place.
